"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." Ecclesiastes 3
At the end of October 2023, Emma's Hugs called our work complete.
Emma's Hugs has been part of the fabric of the lives of those in the greater Houston area and beyond for nearly 15 years. The first Emma's Bayou Bash in 2008 benefited Emma and her family. The second Bayou Bash and the seven that proceeded were memorable seasons of sharing love and kindness with those in the Texas Medical Center who had family members in a long-term hospital setting.
Chick-fil-A nights, Gator Fest Motorcycle Rides, marathon runners and Iron Man competitors, jeans days, golf tournaments, clubs and organizations, business sponsors, family sponsors, monthly donors, students, and more all became part of the mission with their gifts.
Because of your generosity, we blessed thousands of people with $750,000 in parking assistance…61,653 days or 169 years. Better said, Emma’s Hugs provided 12 parking spaces in the Texas Medical Center every day of our 14 years!
We are proud of the legacy Emma left and humbled by the beautiful work Emma's Hugs has done in her name. There are truly not words to express our love and appreciation for everyone who has given time and resources to Emma's Hugs.
We are so thankful for the season of giving we all experienced with Emma's Hugs, and now we look forward to how the community and donors will rally to support another organization.
Please consider donating to another one of the tremendous organizations serving our community. Smilin' Rylen Foundation has been a huge supporter of Emma’s Hugs over the past several years and will continue to provide support for families in the Texas Medical Center.
We appreciate your patience as we wrap up housekeeping items such as mailing donation receipts and memorial/honorarium cards, as well as filling outstanding referral requests received through October 31, 2023.
Thank you for all the hugs!
With love and grateful hearts,
The Emma’s Hugs Board of Directors and the Dunnam family

Bayou Bash 2022 was a success! We made changes to compensate for social distancing. At the Gumbo Drive-thru, we ran out of gumbo in 2 hours! That is 5 posts of gumbo gone! We are thankful and humbled by the turnout. It was a great day to continue the legacy of sweet Emma.
Thank you sponsors for your continued support!!! |
Everyone needs a hug from time to time.
Families who spend significant time in the Texas Medical Center often need hugs more than others. While navigating the medical issues in their lives, they also carry heavy and unexpected financial liabilities. Medical bills soar easily into the thousands of dollars, and smaller daily expenses for eating and parking in the hospital district add up quickly. The need to pay over $100 a week for parking means many families won't make their mortgage payment.
It's in this often-overlooked area that Emma's Hugs steps in. We want to lift the burden of those hospital visits by helping to pay for parking, so families can better focus on their loved one's recovery.

We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the parking gift. You've allowed us to not have to worry about one less thing while here in the hospital. Again, thank you for gift and visit with us. May God bless you and this wonderful organization.

Our family cannot thank you enough for gifting us with a Memorial Hermann parking pass while we begin our journey through cancer treatment for our son Blake! Y’all are beyond amazing! 💜

Thank you so so much for the surprise visit and gift of a parking chip! Though it may seem like something small to some, it is such a huge blessing as parking here can be the worst expense. It truly warmed my heart to receive it. Thank you!!
